The Navarro Independent School District acknowledged two major donations during its Oct. 21 board meeting: an $18,000 one-time donation from WM, LLC to support the purchase of a CNC machine for the district's Career and Technical Education (CTE) program, and $50,842 in grants awarded by the Navarro Education Foundation for the 2024-2025 cycle.
Sherrel Cordas and Byron Turner represented WM, LLC (listed in the minutes as VM Land Fill Waste Management) when presenting the $18,000 donation for CTE. Navarro Education Foundation members Liz Mundine and Kasie Tankersley presented the $50,842 in awarded grants; the NEF presentation was noted on the agenda as moved from the Reports section into Recognitions.
Both gifts were recorded on the consent agenda and accepted by the board as part of the consent motion that passed 6-0.
The donations are designated for CTE equipment (CNC machine) and for NEF-awarded grants to support district programs in 2024-2025.
