Navarro ISD gets progress report on new high school construction

AG/CM Assistant Project Manager Melisa Nu'u presented a detailed construction update on the new Navarro High School during the board's Sept. 16 meeting. She reported that "the lower roof of the administrative area is nearing completion," insulation and roofing systems in classroom areas are fully installed, and window frames and glass are in place on the first floor, enabling interior sheetrock work to begin.

Nu'u outlined ongoing mechanical, electrical and plumbing work in classroom areas and CTE spaces and said steel erection is underway in the auditorium and several athletic areas. She said excavation and concrete work for stem walls and footings at the AG Barn and athletic areas are underway and that site parking and grading work has resumed while utility crews connect storm sewer drainage to underground connections.

Nu'u also told the board that AGCM was engaged in discussions with nearby landowners and the landowner's attorney regarding right-of-way issues south of Timmerman, and that Claycomb and the district's civil engineer had received a response from TxDOT about sidewalks and a traffic signal and were working on revised pricing. The status update did not include firm completion dates for all trades.

Board members asked clarifying questions about site access and utility coordination; project staff indicated additional geotechnical and survey work is pending. No board action was required during the presentation; construction contract approvals and professional selections were handled later on the agenda.
