Board awards $177,760 HVAC testing and balancing contract for Nederland High School

Bill Jardell, assistant superintendent for human resources and operations, recommended the Board approve the Nederland High School HVAC Testing and Balancing recommendations and reported the District solicited three bids; Jardell said the selected vendor, Coastal Air Balance Corp, submitted a bid of $177,760 and that testing and balancing must be performed at night or on weekends while the building is unoccupied.
Jardell said the procedure is required for all new systems and that, once testing is complete, any discrepancies are reported back to the installer for correction. Mr. Boullion explained that testing and balancing is required for new buildings and highly advanced systems. Micah Mosley moved, seconded by Kay DeCuir, to approve Coastal Air Balance Corp for $177,760 and authorize the superintendent to negotiate a contract with the engineer in a form approved by counsel in accordance with Texas Government Code Section 2254.004(b); the motion passed 6–0.
