The Navarro Independent School District Board of Trustees voted 6-0 on Aug. 28, 2024, to adopt a district property tax rate of $1.1827 per $100 of assessed value and to approve the 2024–25 budget for the General Fund, Food Service Fund and Debt Service Fund.
Board member Melissa Sartain moved to adopt the tax rate, which the board recorded as an overall 11.11% increase in the rate. The district’s proposed split sets $0.7228 for Maintenance and Operation (M&O) and $0.4599 for Interest and Sinking (I&S). The board noted the change will effectively increase M&O revenue by 6.77% and raise taxes for a home valued at $100,000 by approximately $45.84. Dan Reinhard moved to adopt the budget as presented; Clint Scheib seconded. Both motions passed by roll-call tally 6-0.
The board’s adoption follows a presentation from Chief Financial Officer Paul Neuhoff, who presented the proposed 2024–25 budget and fund balance during the public hearing portion of the meeting. The district made the proposed budget available for public review at the Navarro ISD Central Office in Geronimo and on the district website. No members of the public spoke at the hearing.
