Ore City ISD honors student and staff award winners; celebrates athletics and band trip plans

At the Oct. 27 meeting Ore City ISD honored students and staff with Rebel Pride and Rebel of the Month recognitions across elementary, middle and high school campuses. Elementary awards were presented by Dale Ann Mizell (Amy Harris, Blaine Northern); middle‑school awards by Elyse Peterson (Michelle Johnson, Cooper Cronin); and high‑school awards by Travis Orms (Rita Clawson, Cynthia Dungey).
Administrators also reported extracurricular successes: the MS 8th‑grade girls' volleyball team are district champions, cross country teams finished third in district and the high school placed 14th at regionals in Huntsville. Travis Orms noted FFA participation in LDE competitions involving 30–35 students in Winona and that the high‑school shop projects won sweepstakes at the yamboree for a second straight year.
The board was told the band trip to Orlando next May will be at no cost to the district; fundraisers and band‑booster contributions covered expenses and about 40 students plus 14 chaperones are expected to attend.
