District leaders told the board that juniors’ ACT performance improved after district interventions and an in‑house diagnostic program.
“From the fall diagnostic for our juniors 21.8 to the April ACT 24.5,” the principal reported, describing an in‑house diagnostic and free tutoring program that allowed staff to deliver tailored lessons and additional support. The principal described a student example who went from a 16 diagnostic score to a 24 on the April ACT after participating in district-offered interventions.
Staff said the district offers free tutoring (a service students would otherwise pay for) and an internal diagnostic tool that lets students see areas for targeted improvement. The superintendent and principal framed this as evidence the board’s priorities and investments in academic interventions are producing measurable results, while noting state proficiency standards for ACT are not yet defined.
