The board approved two facilities items: architect services for a refresh of the RMA lobby at East Campus and installation of safety netting at the varsity baseball field.
Staff described the lobby refresh as an operating-budget project (not part of the referendum) intended to modernize and make the space more welcoming and arts-oriented. “This is not a referendum project. This is a project we're proposing that will be in conjunction with our 10 year capital plan,” a staff member said. The board approved moving the architect services proposal forward and directed staff to pursue bids.
On the baseball field, trustees approved safety netting similar to a prior softball project, intended to protect fans and neighboring properties; staff noted the district had successfully applied for a $50,000 matching maintenance grant for the previous field project and anticipates applying for similar state support again.
