Everett students demonstrate 'around the room and back again' engagement strategy

Students explained they write responses on post-its, circulate and share ideas, then return to record what they heard; Aguirre said the approach increases the quantity of student participation and yields richer ideas for subsequent writing. Jessie, the instructional coach at Everett, added that after implementing the routines, "in the first 5 minutes of being in class, every student has already participated," and specialists affirmed the techniques produced fuller writing and deeper engagement.
