Pampa ISD facilities report: freezer, roofs, retaining wall, HVAC issues and demolition timeline

Facilities staff reported a district-funded walk-in freezer for the administration building to be completed in April, a track replacement to begin in April and be presentable for May graduation, roof bid packets to follow the holidays, an assessed retaining wall issue with no immediate danger, and HVAC units at the administration building failing.
Director of Facilities Troy McClendon provided a multi-part update on ongoing and planned facilities work.
He said a new walk-in freezer at the administration building will be funded through the child nutrition budget and Hall's Heating and Air will redesign and fabricate a new system with completion expected in April. On the PHS track he reported replacement will begin after the regional track in April and "track will be presentable for graduation in May"; the track is planned to be funded from fund balance. Mr. McClendon said the first roof bid packet will go out after Christmas break and a second packet for the high school will follow soon.
Regarding structural concerns at PHS he reported cracked sheetrock and buckled ceiling tile in a basement/ISS room; a structural engineer assessed the area and reported students and staff are not in danger. He also said exploration demolition of the PHS auditorium has begun, that a wrecking ball will continue demolition of the auditorium and fine arts building in February, and that full demolition and cleanup are expected in April. On the administration building HVAC he said some units have serious Freon leaks with one unit completely down and administration is assessing whether to continue repairs or replace the system.
