Presenters Shannon Waitman and Principal Mandy Moore introduced an Esports curriculum as part of the district's Technology Applications career pathway within CTE. The presentation described how "Esports utilizes video gaming to teach the next generation of creators with courses in game design, media production, and cybersecurity through an interactive platform," and explained that the curriculum includes marketing, HR, business, photography and introductory coding to prepare students for related career fields.
Following the presentation, the board approved purchase of the Esports curriculum for the new school year. The proposal was presented as a curricular addition that fits existing CTE pathways; no dollar amounts for the purchase were provided in the minutes.
