Pilot Point ISD board approves library purchases after 30-day public review

The Pilot Point ISD Board approved a package of proposed library materials at its June 10 meeting after Assistant Superintendent Alicia Bonnett described the district's compliance with state law. Bonnett said the complete list of proposed materials was posted for at least 30 days for public review in accordance with Senate Bill 13, and each title "has been thoroughly vetted and meets all applicable Texas guidelines for instructional and library materials." The motion to approve the purchase was made by Mandy Kirby, seconded by Lora Renfro, and passed 7-0.
Bonnett answered trustees' questions about the vetting process and clarified that both donated and purchased materials are subject to the open-meeting approval requirement under SB 13. The district will proceed with the purchases as approved by the board.
