Peaster ISD spotlights STAR students, staff and PJH Science Club

Peaster ISD trustees used part of the Oct. 17 meeting to recognize student and staff achievements. Dr. Kendra Pittman announced STAR Students: Josie Wurm, Boone Norton, Zayne Hess, Tamzin Burdick, Paxton Reece, Lorelai Fluckey, Layla Alvarado and Kate Bennett. The board also named Employees of the Month at each campus, listing Amy De La Torre (Peaster Elementary), Mary Riddle (Peaster Intermediate), Madison Staab (Peaster Junior High), Amanda Day (Peaster High School), Jody Albert (Peaster Intermediate paraprofessional) and Juan Sanchez (custodial department).
Principal Philip Black introduced the Peaster Junior High Science Club on behalf of Mrs. Turner, who could not attend. Black described club activities that include an annual stargazing party and a planned field trip to Cox Ranch, and said staff hope the club will boost student engagement in STEM subjects.
