Pilot Point ISD board grants superintendent temporary authority to approve summer hires

The Pilot Point Independent School District Board of Trustees voted unanimously June 15 to grant Superintendent Dr. Shannon Fuller authority to approve all employee contracts between June 15 and Aug. 31, 2026.
Trustee Craig Bickers moved to approve the delegation and Trustee Lora Renfro seconded. The motion passed 6-0. In explaining the request, Dr. Fuller cited Board Policy DC (Local), which already gives the superintendent authority to recommend hires and allows the Board to delegate final hiring authority for classroom teachers during the summer; she asked the Board to extend that delegation to all contractual positions for the stated summer period to help the district "effectively recruit and secure highly qualified personnel during the peak hiring season." The Board required that any hires made under the delegated authority be reported at the next regular Board meeting.
Board President Renee Polk and other trustees did not oppose the request at the meeting. The motion record shows votes by Craig Bickers (Yea), Mark Harpool (Yea), Mandy Kirby (Yea), Renee Polk (Yea), Lora Renfro (Yea) and Jacob Stuckly (Yea).
