Pine Tree ISD approves Health Special Risk student athletic insurance plan

The Pine Tree ISD Board approved Health Special Risk as the district’s vendor for student athletic insurance, accepting an evaluation committee’s recommendation. The approved Premier Plus coverage has a premium of $132,500 (an increase of $13,977 over the current premium), catastrophic coverage of $1,716, a medical benefit limit of $10,000,000 and a $25,000 deductible. The rate is guaranteed through the 2026–2027 school year.
The district received three proposals from Health Special Risk, Farmer’s Agency and Gentry Financial Services; the evaluation committee recommended remaining with Health Special Risk underwritten by Mutual of Omaha. Trustees voted 4-0 to approve the recommendation. Minutes do not attribute the proposal presentation to a specific staff member.
