Council committees transfer annexation items to Planning after referral vote

The Economic Development Committee voted by voice to move multiple annexation items off its agenda and refer them to the Planning Commission. "We will take all the annexations off economic development and send them to planning," the committee chair said; Ray made the motion and Terry seconded, and the motion passed by voice vote.

Committee members listed properties affected by the referral — including an urgent care location, a federal savings and loan, TSC and Family Farm and Home — and said the transfer was meant to ensure annexation matters are handled by planning staff and commissioners. A public commenter later reiterated frustration at the pace of annexation work and asked who (administration or the law director) would secure an annexation attorney; members said some steps had been taken and that staff updates would follow.
