Premont ISD board accepts Nov. 5 election results, swears in four trustees

At a Nov. 18, 2024 special meeting in Premont, the Premont Independent School District Board of Trustees accepted the canvass of the Nov. 5 general election and declared the election properly conducted. Board Secretary Irma M. Johnson called the meeting to order, and administration recommended adoption of a resolution to accept the canvass and issue Certificates of Election to the winners.
Board member Chris Morales moved to accept the recommendation and Emma V. Falcon seconded. "Let the record show that a quorum of board members is present, that this meeting has been duly called and that notice of this meeting has been posted in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code, Chapter 551," the minutes record. The board voted unanimously in favor of the motion. The board issued Certificates of Election and administered the oath of office to Angie Q. Barrera, Alfredo (Fred) Gutierrez Jr., Ruben A. Martinez and Jo Ann Pena.
The board's acceptance of the canvass completes the formal step required to certify the Nov. 5 trustee election and to seat the newly elected members before the board proceeded to reorganize its officers.
