Neil Volz, speaking for the Alliance for the Arts, thanked the council for recent investments and reported that the organization's mobile art lab is expanding into schools and nonprofit partners across the area, listing Franklin Park, Colonial Elementary and Fort Myers Middle among sites served.
Volz cited estimates for local arts sector economic contribution: "arts organizations in Fort Myers generate over a $100,000,000 in economic activity, support nearly 2,000 jobs, provide $53,000,000 in household income, and result in nearly $20,000,000 in tax revenue," and described increased demand and a waiting list for the mobile art lab. He said the council's investment enabled scholarships for dozens of students to participate in summer camps.
Council received the presentation and thanked the Alliance; no action was required beyond acknowledgement and continued partnership.
