Sheriff Brian Schenck told the committee the jail population stood at 133, including federal and local board-ins, and that the office is preparing for navigation season with plans to have boats on the water by Memorial Day weekend. "At the time of this report, we are holding 133 incarcerated individuals in the jail," Schenck said, and described a week-long mental-health crisis intervention officer training completed in April in partnership with county mental-health providers.
The committee approved several Sheriff-related resolutions: acceptance of a grant from the New York State Canal Corporation (5-26-JP-7), an amended contract to provide a full-time Special Patrol Officer (school resource officer) to the Port Byron Central School District (5-26-JP-8), authorization to contract with OffenderWatch for sex-offender management (5-26-JP-9), and authorization to purchase one drone and accessories (5-26-JP-10). Motions were recorded as moved and seconded and approved by voice vote on the packet items.
