Horry County proclaims July Parks and Recreation Month, highlights department's 25th year

Horry County Council on July 15 adopted Resolution R93-2025 recognizing July 2025 as Parks and Recreation Month and acknowledging the Parks and Recreation Department's work across the county.
Hardy and other Parks staff described programs that include summer camps, athletics, special events, boat landings and emergency responses to tornadoes, flooding and fires. A Parks representative said, "we are actually celebrating our 25th year as a department of Horry County this year," and thanked the council for support.
Council member motioned and the council voted to approve the resolution by acclamation; the resolution passed unanimously.
Parks staff emphasized the department's role in community building and day-to-day customer service, and asked the council to help publicize and celebrate Parks and Recreation Month.
