Mayor Witt Anderson told the council May 21 that the city is pursuing a $2.5 million funding request for the Joint Use Facility (JUF) and staff are working on a joint letter for Ways and Means co-chairs to support capital construction and HB 3870 efforts. Projects Coordinator Colleen Coleman was assigned to draft a letter to be signed by the city and the fire department co-chairs as part of those efforts.
Todd Reeves of the Mosier Fire Department said staffing for fire season is adequate through a mix of new volunteers, existing staff and wildland personnel and described efforts to partner with Mid-Columbia Fire and Rescue. Wasco County Commissioner Scott Hage told council he submitted a grant application to expand Q-Life fiber to homes in the area; staff will monitor the grant application progress.
