County says state fully funded SROs for seven high schools and added three middle schools

Presenters said officers are already assigned and getting acquainted with their schools.
A committee member asked whether the grant could be considered "in perpetuity" and whether the county should earmark contingency funds in the next budget in case state support changes. The presenter responded, "All indications, right now is the grant will continue. Obviously, we don't know for how long... that's a crystal ball," and said the chief's intention is to continue to grow the program while acknowledging uncertainty about the state's future funding decisions.
Committee members requested future updates and discussed the possibility of building county budget contingencies to sustain SRO coverage if state funding changes.
