Little River Chamber outlines Patriot's Day festival to benefit veterans and first responders

Joey Davis, chairman of the Little River Chamber of Commerce, told the Horry County Public Safety Committee the chamber plans an inaugural "Patriot's Day" festival the weekend of Sept. 13 at River Landing, with a parade, afternoon boat procession and a memorial element to benefit veterans and first responders.
"This whole event is for charity. It is gonna be funding for veterans and 1st responders of Horry County... It's a 100% for charity," Davis said, describing a parade route from Mineola to River Landing, a coast guard reef drop offshore and free booth space for nonprofit and service organizations. He also said the organizers secured a DNR reef site where they plan an artificial reef with "9 11 on the sea floor." Davis said the festival will include scholarships ($500 each) for Horry County juniors and seniors and that a board made up of veterans and first-responder representatives will decide how funds are distributed.
The presenter said event logistics — including coordination with police, fire and EMS and insurance — are underway and compared planning to prior county festivals such as Crab Fest and Shrimp Fest. Committee members responded with brief questions and indicated staff would post event information on the county website.
The committee did not take a separate formal vote on the event during the meeting; Davis invited follow-up questions and said he would provide additional details to committee staff as plans solidify.
