Beth Tran, appearing for Chief Tanner and Horry County Fire Rescue, asked council to authorize submission and acceptance of the 2024 FEMA Fire Prevention and Safety Grant in the amount of $315,347.42 to support fire-safety outreach: "This grant would actually provide part time personnel to staff fire safety events."
Tran said the grant would provide 2,700 smoke alarms, 900 10-year combination smoke/CO alarms, and 40 smoke alarms for the hearing impaired, and that targeted installation would focus on mobile homes and low-income homeowners age 65 and older. The committee moved and approved the resolution to submit and accept the grant if awarded.
