Sandy Davis, presenting the Myrtle Beach Regional Economic Development update, said the office has seen a pronounced increase in business leads this year: "As of right now, we are at 75 leads as of today." She told council members the increase follows trade-show outreach and two new staff hires last fall that expanded marketing capacity.
Davis described available inventory that officials are promoting to prospects, including a speculative building at Ascot Valley of a little over 100,000 square feet (expandable to 153,000) and a new 178,000-square-foot multi-tenant building in the Palmetto Coast Industrial Park. She said several projects—three actively looking at the Ascot Valley site and seven prospect companies linked to the multi-tenant building—are in negotiation, and that the department continues active mission and site-selector outreach in markets such as Chicago, Toronto and Minneapolis.
