Steuben County Community Services flags staffing strain as SNAP changes and 988 transition loom

Lynn Gramley, DCS, told the subcommittee that staffing issues "continue to be a concern" and that the agency expects community needs to rise if SNAP work requirements change and mental-health exemptions alter participation. She said Medicaid clients are being reminded to recertify.
Gramley also said the county will route after-hours crisis calls to 988 and is working on "a contract with 988 to be able to follow up with clients that call." The agency described outreach plans and grant applications aimed at transportation and participant access but said some grants (including a PROS van) were not awarded.
