Residents press council on road fee accounting and back-to-school event; crosswalk request raised

During public comment at the July 22 meeting, resident Dennis Dutchess requested a timeline for completion of requested public works and asked for a report detailing what the road fee fund has paid for since last July and the fund's current balance.
Lindsey Fonseca, owner of Taqueria Lou Lous, said she plans a back-to-school event on August 8, 2025 beginning at 6:00 p.m. with a backpack drive coordinated with the school board; the council granted permission for use of fire department tables and chairs and said the town would assist with a trailer for the stage. A separate request asked the council to revisit adding a crosswalk on Buckhannon Pike with the West Virginia Department of Highways because of increased pedestrian traffic.
