Shurtleff said anticipated FAA Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act monies and an FAA Airport Improvement Program grant together with expected state matching funds would cover roughly $7,000,000 of the phase cost, with a local share of approximately $178,467 sourced from passenger facility charges. Legislators asked about long‑term operating costs and the prospect of vacated space once equipment is moved indoors; Shurtleff and colleagues said federal directives and airport master‑plan requirements largely drive the timing and scope.
The resolution authorizing acceptance of the grants passed unanimously on roll call. Legislators emphasized trying to minimize ongoing expenses and to make use of vacated facilities where possible.
