Council reviews city cannabis pilot program; staff to draft ordinance updates

Following a council workshop, staff will return with draft updates to Dixon's cannabis pilot program — including possible changes to allowable license types, retail caps and tax/public-benefit amounts — as directed by council.
Director Raffy Boyle told the commission that the City Council held a special meeting to review the state of Dixon’s cannabis pilot program and provided preliminary direction to staff.
"It's still a pilot program," Boyle said. "They reviewed a lot of whether it still should remain pilot, whether it should be any changes to where they're allowed, the types of licenses that are allowed in the city, the number of retail licenses, the public benefit amounts, the tax." He said council gave staff preliminary direction and that staff will return with draft updates for the council to consider.
The council's review follows the revocation hearing for Schaffer Manufacturing earlier in the planning commission meeting; Boyle said staff will incorporate council direction and return with ordinance amendments and next steps for public review.
