Rose told the council the RCD operates from an office on North Lincoln and has "a staff of 21" and "a budget of about $4,500,000," but that a recent county funding change has reduced the water agency's ability to pay for programs. "So we're looking for other partners," he said, and asked the council to consider allowing a longer presentation at a future meeting to detail programs and partnership opportunities.
The request focused on continuing free field-trip experiences for local students; Rose said the RCD brings sixth graders to Rush Ranch for outdoor education. He also described broader work with farmers and landowners on water-quality and habitat projects. The council did not take formal action but acknowledged his request and offered to place the item on a future agenda if staff and the mayor coordinate scheduling.
