Commission opts to pursue courthouse electrical upgrades after facilities assessment

Tyler Garst of Community Building Solutions told the commission he inspected the courthouse with Facilities Maintenance's Keith Coleman and found multiple defects, saying there was "definitely an issue with the roof of the courthouse." Garst provided cost estimates for three priority projects — roof, windows and electrical — totaling $1,330,000.
After discussing funding options including capital outlay and the building fund, commissioners asked Garst to prepare and send a contract to move forward on electrical work only. The commission was provided an estimated cost range for electrical improvements of $75,000 to $125,000 and directed staff to return contract paperwork for board consideration rather than authorizing the full suite of projects at this meeting.
