Resident thanks council for new courts, urges benches, windscreens and lights repairs

During public comment at the start of the meeting, Michelle Robinson identified herself and thanked the council for the new tennis and pickleball courts, saying locals are using them heavily but still face problems with wind, benches and lighting.
“I would like to put in the budget…some wind screens. Today, very windy, very hard to play pickleball or tennis,” Robinson said, and she asked the council to restore benches and fix bottom rails so balls no longer pass under the fence. She also reported recurring problems with lights, saying players come from neighboring towns and are disappointed when lights fail.
Kate, in her department presentation, noted that park facilities requested $15,500 that would address windscreens, benches and bottom rails — the same items Robinson asked about — and staff said that some of those improvements were included among capital or one‑time operating requests for FY26.
