Local water district buys property for second 2,000,000-gallon tank; flags utility rate filing and cybersecurity work

Jason Fulbright, speaking for Public Water Supply District No. 1 of Jefferson County, told the council the district bought property behind the Circle K and McDonald's at Richardson Road to site a second water tower with about a 2,000,000-gallon capacity to expand storage and resilience.
Fulbright said the system’s average daily use approaches available storage and that last year’s tornado damaged sensors and antennas and was accompanied by water-main breaks that limited the district's ability to monitor supplies. He said the district has been working with the Department of Homeland Security and CISA to harden systems against cyberattacks and is planning a modern, hardened headquarters and operations center.
Fulbright also alerted the public that Missouri American Water has applied to the Missouri Public Service Commission for rate increases (he said filings indicate increases of up to 38% in areas where that utility sets rates), and urged residents to watch PSC filings and hearings.
