Council moves to expand Highway 151 urban renewal area, approves tax-division ordinance

The council opened and closed a public hearing on expanding the Anamosa Highway 151 urban renewal area and approved Resolution 2025-72 to declare necessity for the urban renewal expansion under Iowa code. Staff said the action follows the urban renewal plan amendment and statutory procedures.
Council later adopted Ordinance 968 providing for the division of taxes levied on taxable property added to the October 2025 expansion of the Highway 151 urban renewal area, pursuant to Code of Iowa §403.19. Members also set public hearing dates for proposed development agreements (Shell Properties LLC and Brummell Properties LLC) related to the urban-renewal area; both hearings were scheduled for Nov. 10 at 6 p.m.
