Tina Henderson of Mendenhall and Associates told commissioners that Anderson Township Regional Sewer District seeks Rush County’s permission to serve as the lead applicant and pass-through for a combined water and sewer project totaling $1,441,000. Henderson said the township will provide a local match of $691,000 and is seeking a $750,000 Community Development Block Grant from the state; the county would not provide direct funding but must be the eligible applicant entity.
"Today I'm in front of you with a $1,441,000 project, so $1,441,000 we are asking for Rush County to serve as the lead advocate for a community development block grant," Henderson said. She said the application would be submitted in round two, which opens in October, with final applications due in December. Commissioners asked procedural questions and confirmed the county’s role would be limited to acting as applicant and pass-through without committing county funds.
