Chief Bratton defended the selection process and emphasized he did not select favorites: “Favorites has has never been part of my decision,” he said, describing his experience promoting officers in prior roles.
After discussion, the board voted to table the promotion. Members indicated they could call a special public meeting once legal/administrative reviews are completed and allowed the board to act earlier than a September 1 placeholder if investigators finish work sooner.
