Board says LEC maintenance fund remains healthy; $1.8M balance reported

Board members said interest is being returned to the fund (about $4,000 per month in 2025) and reminded listeners that the county contributes $200,000 semiannually—$400,000 per year—into the account. A supervisor noted that the authority, rather than the board, controls spending from that maintenance account, and legal advice was obtained about restrictions and potential credit impacts if the fund were repurposed.
Building-services staff explained portions of the fund are invested in CDs with staggered maturities and some kept in a daily account for accessibility. "We have some in a daily account so it's readily accessible to us if we actually need to use it," a building-services representative said. Supervisors called the fund "ahead of schedule" relative to expected maintenance needs because little of the balance has been spent during the construction and move-in delay.
