County approves purchase of three 0.5‑ton trucks; one board member votes nay

Board members questioned the selection because a local bidder was $75 lower and had a shorter delivery timeframe. Fleet manager Beau Bergeron said the trucks are on the replacement list and that some vehicles have accrued maintenance costs equal to their purchase price; he added that manufacturer order cutoffs make delivery timing uncertain. "2 of them have almost full points in maintenance, which means we've spent as much as the vehicle cost to maintain it," Bergeron said. The motion passed 4–1, with Brandy Bailey recorded as voting "nay."
