Forensic LIMS support renewed; RFSC director cites license additions and earlier locked pricing for cost increase
Summary
The Board approved a five-year maintenance and support renewal with Forensic Advantage for the Regional Forensic Science Center's LIMS at $260,503.54; RFSC director Shelly Stedman said higher costs reflect added user licenses and the end of previously locked-in pricing.

The Regional Forensic Science Center presented a recommendation to accept a quote from Forensic Advantage for maintenance and licensing support of the laboratory information management system (LIMS) in the amount of $260,503.54 and described the agreement as a multi-year renewal.
Shelly Stedman, director of the Regional Forensic Science Center, told the board the per-year cost increased in part because the center had added licenses for additional users and because earlier pricing had been locked in at a unusually low rate. "We have been adding some licenses for additional users," Stedman said, and she explained that the base license cost had previously been highly competitive but had not experienced normal annual increases. Board members asked about the jump from prior per-year costs; the motion to accept the quote passed by voice vote.
