Board approves left-turn lane at Mays Industrial Park; state to fund roughly 75%

Lynn Packer, director of Public Works and county engineer, said the work is limited to the turn-lane portion and that a rail spur and other site development work were being bid separately. She also confirmed the Kansas Department of Transportation has committed funding to cover approximately 75% of the transportation improvements. "This part of the project is for the turn lane itself, and this will be for the entire project of the turn lane portion," Packer said.
Board members asked about the local cost split; Packer said the county and Mays would share the local match. The motion to award the contract was moved and seconded and approved by voice vote.
