Council approves tax abatements for Capco LLC after council presentation and public support

The Columbus City Common Council on June 2 unanimously approved Resolution No. 3, 2026, authorizing property and personal property tax abatements for Capco LLC at 1349 Arcadia Drive. Paul Smith, assistant director of community development, presented the application and said Capco plans to install $1,182,070 in new manufacturing equipment and invest $375,272 to expand its facility; the company expects to add four new positions and retain 108 existing jobs.
Capco representatives Dan Arnholt and Jun Hashizume attended the meeting; Hashizume said, “Capco manufactures safety components, with Toyota being one of their customers.” The Incentive Review Committee reviewed the application before the meeting and found it to be in substantial compliance, Councilor Tom Dell reported. Phil Wagner, president of the Greater Columbus Economic Development Corporation, spoke in support, saying the organization was “in support of Capco and their investment in the community.” Councilor Dell moved to pass the resolution, Councilor Kent Anderson seconded, and the roll-call vote was 9-0 in favor.
