Matthew Brown, chair of the Lancaster Airport Authority, noted the board received the U.S. Department of Transportation decision released Feb. 6, 2026 awarding Essential Air Service (EAS) for Lancaster Airport to SkyWest Airlines on a four-year contract.
The board was told SkyWest’s contract calls for 12 flights per week, with Wednesdays and Saturdays each scheduled for a single flight. Authority staff reported SkyWest is recruiting and expects a seven-week training period to start service; the U.S. DOT is working with Southern to extend the incumbent’s current extension through June 2, 2026 while the transition proceeds. The update came during the Aeronautical Property Committee report.
