Kenyon-Wanamingo board approves listings for Wanamingo elementary and adjacent parcels

The Kenyon-Wanamingo Board of Education voted unanimously April 28 to list the Wanamingo elementary school building at 225 Third Ave. and three adjacent buildable parcels for sale. Realtor Breanna Kohn presented the listing materials and the board approved the parcel listings and the building listing in separate motions that each passed 7-0.
Superintendent Beth Giese told the board that any proceeds from the sale would be directed to the district’s debt service. During the agenda item the board first approved the listing for the three buildable parcels behind the elementary school and then approved the listing for the elementary building itself. "Motion to approve the listing for the elementary school property at 225 Third Ave," was recorded as adopted (M/S/C Syverson/Lindell, 7-0).
The board closed part of the meeting later under Minn. Stat. 13D.05, subd. 3(c) to consider offers received for district-owned property and then reopened before adjourning. No sale price or prospective buyer was recorded in the minutes; the board tied the disposition discussion to debt-service planning rather than operating revenue.
