The board confirmed a budget workshop for April 1 at 7:00 a.m. and scheduled a public hearing on April 8 to present the draft budget. Mayor Bob Valente said he used a 4.3% consumer price index figure when drafting raises for full-time employees beginning June 1 and noted other positions were budgeted near 2%. "I went with the 4.3% CPI for the year," he said, noting the draft remains under the statutory tax cap as currently calculated.
Valente also said he placed raises for board members in the draft and invited trustees to keep or remove those increases given the election year. He said he will distribute certified payroll schedules to trustees so they can review projected compensation. The board agreed to reconvene on April 1 to finalize the budget and to review any revisions before adoption.
