Nassau board adopts resolution urging $100 million in temporary municipal assistance

The Village of Nassau board adopted a formal resolution expressing support for increased aid to municipalities and urging the New York State Legislature to include at least $100,000,000 in temporary municipal assistance in the state budget. Mayor Bob Valente read the resolution into the record, which praises Governor Kathy Hochul's proposed budget amendments and asks for a more permanent, predictable solution for unrestricted municipal aid. "Resolution supporting increased aid to municipalities and strengthening New York state local partnership," the mayor read, and the motion to adopt the resolution was moved and seconded and carried by voice vote.
The resolution, as read, cites an additional $100,000,000 in temporary municipal assistance and calls for transmission of copies to the governor, legislative leaders and members representing the village. Trustees discussed signing copies and the clerk will finalize the paperwork so the resolution can be transmitted to state officials.
