Commission proclaims Drug Endangered Children Day; local coalition outlines early-intervention work

Chairman Beatty read a proclamation declaring April 23, 2025 as Drug Endangered Children Day to raise awareness about children exposed to parental substance misuse. Sarah Robinson of the Sedgwick County DEC Coalition accepted the proclamation and introduced board members in the audience.
Kim Wilson, a Wichita State University education professor and cofounder of PrimeFit Youth Foundation, spoke for the coalition, describing the network of law enforcement, social services, educators, medical professionals and advocates working to identify at-risk children earlier and "move[ ] from at risk to resilience." She said the proclamation reaffirms community commitment to early intervention and cross-sector collaboration.
