The Board of Trustees of the Village of Hewlett Neck voted Oct. 30, 2024, to adopt Local Law HN-3 of 2024, which amends the village code to set a maximum speed limit of 25 miles per hour in non-school zones. The Mayor opened and closed a public hearing on the proposed law after the board confirmed it had received a recommendation from the Village Engineer that a reduced speed limit is necessary and appropriate.
The board completed a SEQRA review, classifying the proposal as an Unlisted Action and concluding it would not have a significant adverse environmental impact. On a motion by Mayor Moshe Blinder, seconded by Deputy Mayor Isaac Showman, and approved unanimously by those present, the board adopted the local law and directed Village Clerk/Treasurer Michelle Blandino to file Local Law HN-3 of 2024 with the New York Secretary of State. The action takes effect following any statutorily required filing and posting.
