Residents press council on Splash Pad cost, trash pickup bids and cell-tower timing

Two residents used the public-comment period to press the council for details on local projects and services. Sue Cutwright asked whether the city would publish the total cost of the Splash Pad and asked when nearby cell-tower construction would be completed; the council said the project is expected to be finished in six to eight weeks.
Resident Beth Smilack questioned the council's decision to accept bids for citywide trash collection. Mayor Kevin Stork replied that residents would pay for pickup, there would be no option to opt out, and the city landfill would more than likely close if citywide pickup is adopted. City Attorney William Strang clarified that the city is not required to place the question on a referendum for voters.
