Jerseyville officials report 102 storm damage surveys; federal aid threshold cited

Mayor Kevin Stork and Chief Keith Norman briefed the council on local storm recovery efforts at the Aug. 5 meeting. Mayor Stork thanked city employees for "their tireless efforts to assist the community" and said the city will continue evaluating long-range storm improvements; he announced curbside pickup for storm debris on Wednesday, Aug. 6 and Thursday, Aug. 7 and said Salvation Army clean-up kits are available at City Hall after residents complete an IEMA damage-assessment survey.
Chief Keith Norman said 102 surveys had been submitted countywide and that staff will follow up with those households to verify reported damage. Norman outlined thresholds for federal and individual assistance, saying the State of Illinois must reach $22 million in reported damages to qualify for federal assistance and that individual assistance requires an area threshold of 25 residents with 40% damage each, which he said “might be difficult to get to.”
