The Jerseyville City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to appoint Danny Green as the city’s next chief of police, effective Oct. 1, 2025. The move follows Chief Brad Blackorby’s planned retirement on Sept. 30.
Mayor Kevin Stork summarized the hiring process, saying a committee interviewed six internal candidates and “unanimously voted to offer position to Danny Green.” Commissioner John Miles moved the appointment and Commissioner Steve Pohlman seconded; the roll call vote was all ayes and the motion carried. Danny Green attended the meeting and will be sworn in on Sept. 30, the council recorded.
The appointment replaces Chief Blackorby, whose retirement date was noted in the council motion. The council did not attach additional terms or salary details to the motion. No formal public comment was recorded on the appointment during the meeting.
