Redfield council authorizes hiring and training plans for 2026

Members approved advertising to recruit summer help and authorized sending all street, water, and sewer department employees to safety training in Aberdeen on March 10–12, 2026. The safety training motion was moved by Jessi Lewis and seconded by Brent Derscheid; the motion carried.
Separately, the council approved hiring Jack Lewis for Park & Rec (Class 10 scorekeeper at $13.00/hour; Class 11 plate umpire at $30.00/game; Class 12 field umpire at $20.00/game). The council also voted to hire Councilmember Jessi Lewis at $25.00/hour for snow removal for the Street Department; that motion carried with Lewis abstaining. These personnel actions were recorded in the minutes as carried or carried with abstention as noted.
